2000 Small Brewers Festival Amateur Brewers Competition Awards

The Best of Show 2000 winner has been selected. It was a hard fought battle between the American Style Barleywine and the Bavarian Weizen. The judging panel had a hard time with the final choice, with advocates of both beers pulling the panel one way and then another. In the final analysis the winner was Robert Krohn for his Bavarian Weizen. His beer was very clean with a nice crisp clovelike hefeweizen character. His beer was reminiscent of an old world Bavarian Weissbier. Congratulations to Robert on his fine effort. We will look forward to inviting Robert to come to the Tied House in Mountain View and brewing his recipe for next years festival. The Festival will plan to feature the beer in its own booth for all to come and sample.

Be sure to come to this years festival and stop by Randy Fishel's booth at the festival. Randy was last years best of show winner for his brown bock. This year at the festival he was given full brewers priviledges. His beer will be featured in its own booth. Randy came to the Tied House in early July to brew his recipe. We feel that it turned out great. Be sure to come by and give a toast to Randy.

Listed below are the winners of this years competition. There are a few familiar names and some new ones. It was a great competition with many excellent beers that deserve to be on top. Many thanks to John Watson, Peter Torgrimson and the members of the Worts of Wisdom Club and all the guest judges for their outstanding job in organizing the judging event for this year.

Be sure to stop by for the awards announcement at 4:00pm at the Festival on Saturday.

All of the judging sheets will be available at the Worts of Wisdom booth at the festival. Please stop by and claim your awards and scoresheets after the best of show judging.
